I just reviewed the 36 pages of the training manual and today starts the intense saddle time build-up. So what does the next period of Jan 18th to Aug 30th 2010 present to each of the riders? 10,905 kms of training road work! Ouch! Never mind the change of diet and the addition of gym workouts. Good luck to all the riders in the upcoming months of their training schedules. To all of those riders heading to Cora’s for the riders meet and greet, go lightly on those waffles and syrup!!!!
So I have taken the biggest step yet in my prep for the ride, no not riding my bike indoors on my trainer, calling my doctor’s office to set up an appointment to have him check out this body, that has been referred to as a temple [in ruins!]
Saturday morning work out at the local gym, one hour on the elliptical [ high tension] for a little leg burn, in preparation for that sleeper hilly province of New Brunswick. I have ridden with some of the previous riders and they felt that N.B. threw them some nasty climbs. I want to be prepared for whatever the ride throws my way.
For all those who are new to cycling and are somewhat skeptical about your ability to keep with the pack, here is a quote from one of the previous riders who I was riding with- “Our team was as fast as our slowest rider, there are no gold medals, we want to finish as a team, as a family and everyone join the event for the same reason- The Kids!!
Not by plane, not by car, but by the seat of my pants!!! Pass the butt butter please and take the hockey cards off my spokes! I am about to undertake the journey of a lifetime, which I hope will create a victory for the children fighting cancer. Let the donations raised in this event allow these children to win the fight.
I am a cancer survivor, who knows the impact of those words-” You have cancer,” has on a person and their entire family. How cheated I felt at my age to have been given these words. I can only imagine how a child must feel at such a young age to be confronted with this disease.
I am undertaking this ride to raise funding for these children and to allow them the chance to enjoy a full and health life.
Please help me raise my target of $25,000.00 Please donate to David Avery https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/startup.aspx?eventid=41462
